How does Breezair evaporative cooling work?

Breezair evaporative cooling uses evaporation to help cool the air.

Hot air enters the cooling unit on your roof where it is filtered and cooled as it passes through specially designed moistened chillcel pads. As the air is pushed through the cooling pads, the water evaporates and the heat in the air is absorbed, which lowers the air temperature. A fan then pushes the cool air throughout a house via a network of ducts.

Evaporative cooling filter pads – Black Opal™ mini-cell Chillcel® pad technology

The breakthrough evaporative cooling filter pads Black Opal™ mini-cell Chillcel® pad is the only   evaporative cooling medium of its kind.(4)

  • Exclusive small cell design provides cutting-edge cooling capacity.
  • Maintains Mini-Cell Chillcel® pad technology increases surface area of the pads by 25% dramatically multiplying cooling capacity and efficiency – beyond belief!
  • Black Opal™ Mini-Cell Chillcel® pads deliver transformational aesthetics to your home enabling the unit to blend seamlessly into its surroundings.

The evaporative cooling process provides several key benefits

100% fresh air

The evaporative cooling process relies on airflow, with cool air entering through ducts and then exiting via open doors or windows. Only 100% fresh air is circulating, rather than stale and recycled air.

Moisture Levels

Dry air from refrigerated air conditioners can aggravate allergies and asthma. Evaporative air conditioning systems use moisture to cool the air and won’t dry your skin, nose or eyes.

Filtered Air

As the fan draws outside air through the cooling pads, not only is it chilled but the air is also filtered from impurities.

Ducted evaporative cooling units require some windows or doors to be open creating airflow.

Breezair and the environment

Reduced greenhouse gas emissions
Evaporative cooling uses water to cool. This helps reduce the production of greenhouse gases, including harmful hydroflourocarbons

Energy efficient
Better for your pocket and for the environment

Minimal water usage
The technologically advanced water management system continuously checks the quality of the water in your cooler. The water is automatically replaced when mineral deposits exceed an acceptable level. The optimal result: minimum water use for maximum, fresh cooling power. The old water can then be repurposed safely to water plants and grass, so nothing goes to waste.

Save water with a Breezair

How Breezair evaporative air coolers can help you to conserve water

Breezair evaporative air conditioners use a small amount of water. The technologically advanced WaterManager™ system and auto drain function continuously checks the quality of the water in your cooler. The water is automatically replaced when mineral deposits exceed an acceptable level, keeping your system clean. The optimal result: minimum water use for maximum, fresh cooling power. (6)

Breezair annual running costs very low

There has never been a better time to invest in an evaporative air cooler as energy prices are escalating. Summer across South America typically involves heat waves depending on the area you live in, and an evaporative cooling unit offers a significant and increasing edge on refrigerated air conditioning when it comes to efficiency and running cost.

If you are looking for an energy-efficient cooling system, it makes sense to start with an evaporative unit. Breezair is the world’s first Inverter evaporative cooler and that means lower energy usage and operating costs.

With increasing energy prices, and extreme temperatures making summer longer and hotter, evaporative cooling has a significant and increasing edge on direct expansion air conditioning when it comes to energy efficiency, performance and lifestyle.

What is the best climate for Breezair evaporative cooling in South America?

Evaporative cooling is used worldwide, including in some of the most severe climates of North, Central and South America. It is a suitable energy-efficient and cost-effective cooling solution for many climates within these regions.

Evaporative cooling works especially well in areas that record mostly hot and dry conditions, as the humidity in the air is typically low. This includes Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, San Salvador, Panama, Perú. This illustrative map of Mexico shows the different climate zones where evaporative cooling works effectively.

Breezair Commercial Application

Breezair evaporative cooler delivers 100% fresh air

Evaporative cooling delivers a natural, exceptionally healthy cooling experience. It uses a fan to push outside air through water-soaked cooling pads to bring an endless supply of cool, fresh filtered outside air into the building, leaving moisture in the air, which combats dehydration.

These are some innovations that help Breezair cool your home or commercial building with, 100% fresh clean air.

Aquaflow non-clogging water distribution system
  • Unique design ensures constant, even pad saturation
  • Maximizes the cooling effect- outperforms competitive products
Chillcel
  • The design optimizes the cooling effect
  • Durable design outlasts competitive products
  • Pre-wet function allows the pads to be fully saturated before the fan comes on, so only cooled air enters the home

Frequently Asked Questions

What does cooling capacity mean?

Cooling capacity or performance is measured by the amount of heat that is removed from a building and is expressed by kilowatts or British Thermal Unit (BTU) per hour.

What factors can impact cooling capacity?

Cooling capacity can be impacted by a number of factors including the outside temperature and humidity, the heat load on the room or space you are cooling, and duct system.

Your contractor will be able to determine the correct cooler for your residential project.

The performance or Cooling Capacity of an evaporative cooler is a function of both the air flow (CFM) and air discharge temperature.

To determine the cooling output of a unit the following process can be used.

1. Determine design conditions Outside Dry-Bulb (DB), Outside Wet-Bulb (WB) and inside Dry-Bulb (TI)
2. Determine the design Sensible Heat Load (Btu/h) for the room or building
3. Determine the Cooler Leaving Air Temperature (LAT) where LAT = DB – [(DB-WB) x EFF] where EFF = 0.87 for Seeley Chillcel media
4. Determine the Airflow in CFM required where CFM = 0.925 x Sensible Heat Load x (TI – LAT)
5. Determine the cooler(s) required by referring to the air flow charts above.

Can I pre-cool my house with Breezair?

The MagIQtouch wall controller has a time delay feature that you can set to start before you come home, so you arrive home to a lovely cool house.

How much water will my air conditioner use and what will it cost?

Seeley International cannot accurately calculate water and or power consumption as any calculation must be based on individual requirements and conditions. The factors that determine the result include climatic conditions, installation specifications, product selection, service utility charges, expectations and requirements, where these factors continually change prevents a correct calculation being made and cannot be measured at a fixed point.

Why does my evaporative cooler drain water?

This is normal and means your WaterManager™ or water management system is working correctly. These systems are designed to monitor and control the quality of the water in the tank. The system will drain water when it needs to or when the systems is not in use. The frequency at which the WaterManager™ water drains is determined by the quality of the water in the tank.
A probe in the tank measures the water salinity (impurities) and, when this rises above a set level, the unit will drain some water. The frequency at which the water manager allows water to drain is dependent on: 1) The water supply quality; 2) The temperature of the day; 3) The humidity of the day; 4) The fan speed the unit is being run at; and 5) The size of the unit.
