Seeley International and Bayside step in to keep the kids cool

When Port Melbourne Primary School spent $30,000 on an evaporative cooling system that didn’t work (not a Seeley International system), the story quickly hit the Melbourne papers.

The school was facing large additional costs to install another system and the students were sweltering in the classrooms.

Seeley International’s Jon Seeley, who is based in Melbourne, saw the story and contacted the school to offer our help. That was an offer that the Port Melbourne Primary School Principal, Peter Martin, was only too happy to accept.

We arranged for four of our Breezair evaporative air conditioners to be installed (on a temporary basis, while the issue with the original system is resolved) at the school in time for the start of the first term this year, at no charge.

One of our amazing local Seeley International Service agents, Bayside Heating & Cooling, heard about this and wanted to help too, so sent along a crew to do the set-up of the units, ducting them through the windows, also at no charge.

Jon Seeley visited Port Melbourne Primary School in early March to see how the Breezairs were performing.

“It was clear that the school community is delighted with our generous provision of free temporary air conditioners,” he said.

“The Principal, Peter Martin, was so pleased that he gave me a hug!

“He told me that the air conditioners were worked perfectly and had made all the difference during the periods of hot weather that they’d had this term.”

The “Multi-Purpose” building which we are air conditioning has a number of classes plus library area and art room, housing 150 kids and half a dozen teachers all up.

Ellie Dodd is the teacher in charge, told Jon that: “Even on the hottest days, when we turn your air conditioners on, it’s very comfortable in here, even in the areas furthest away from the inlets.  We are so grateful to Seeley International for providing them for us”.
