While the company has offices and sales networks all around the world, South Australia is still very much its home – with its head office and major manufacturing hub situated at Lonsdale in Adelaide’s southern suburbs.
SA is where the company’s success story began, when Seeley International Founder and Executive Chairman, Mr Frank Seeley AM, DUniv Flin, FAICD, set to work in his backyard shed back in 1972, designing and manufacturing the world’s first all plastic evaporative portable air conditioner. That achievement was followed up by plastic ducted rooftop air conditioners in 1983, which revolutionised the industry and helped grow the rooftop cooling market in Australia.
Company growth led to expansion in local manufacturing capacity and approach, and Seeley International’s commitment to producing high quality, innovative products saw the company remain in Adelaide, bringing a growing number of manufacturing processes in-house, including injection moulding, motors, pumps and filters.
Today Seeley International is Australia’s largest air conditioning manufacturer and a global leader in the development of highly innovative super-energy-efficient cooling and heating products, with Australian manufacturing operations at Lonsdale, South Australia and Albury, New South Wales.

As part of its SA operations, the specialist ‘Imagineering’ team – personally headed up by Mr Seeley – is also SA-based and is dedicated to bringing over the horizon products to the market today. The company tests its products at its purpose-built, state-of-the-art $1M NATA-accredited testing facility at Lonsdale.
Seeley International’s vertical integration has enabled it to develop high level skills in tool manufacturing and maintenance, metal fabrication, die casting, plastic injection moulding, paper handling, vacuum forming, rotational moulding, electric motor manufacturing, product assembly and electronics.
From a geographical perspective, Seeley International’s South Australian presence provides a central location within Australia, which offers good international airport links and freight routes to send completed products across the country and further afield.
