Seeley International Staff Bake Off in Support of the Leukaemia Foundation

More than 100 Seeley International employees swapped their tools for baking utensils this month to participate in an ‘angel cupcake’ bakeoff and BBQ in support of the Leukemia Foundation’s Light the Night fundraiser.

Seeley International is a major sponsor of the Leukaemia Foundation and this year has increased its support, signing up for a three-year commitment as the Major National Partner for Light the Night around Australia.

Light the Night is an annual event held around Australia where families, friends and work colleagues gather at twilight to shine lanterns  in support  of people living with blood cancer and to raise awareness of leukeamia.

“In addition to the company increasing its support of Light the Night, I have been delighted to see staff jumping on board to support the cause this year to raise additional funds,” Seeley International founder and Chairman, Frank Seeley AM said.

The Seeley bake off produced more than 200 cupcakes decorated in a ‘calling on all angels’ theme.

“After much deliberation, the judges chose an incredible cupcake creation featuring a Breezair air conditioner, with an angel perched on top as the winner,” Frank said.
Seeley International staff in Adelaide also joined the ‘Seeley’s Angels’ fundraising team to run or walk the City to Bay Fun Run.
“The custom made ’Seeley’s Angels’ caps, complete with wings, may not have helped them run faster but they did attract attention and helped spread awareness for Light the Night,” Frank said.

Light The Night 2011 will be held on Wednesday September 21 across Australia and is an inspiring and important source of funds to help combat blood cancers, as well as raising public awareness.

Around 40,000 Australian families face the challenges of leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders every day. And every 46 minutes, another person is diagnosed.
