The Renewable Gas Future is Coming
The future of home heating
Australians love natural gas. Across the nation, almost 50% of Australian homes are connected to the gas network, with 12 million household appliances used for cooking, heating and hot water.
Gas has a future, and that future is clean and green.
The answer is embracing the transition from natural gas to green hydrogen or renewable gas like biomethane. Using the infrastructure and appliances we already have, in a cleaner, greener way. This is a transition already under way in Australia.
Space Heater or Wall Furnace Benefits
Why a Wall Furnace?
Braemar has a range of gas wall furnace heaters to suit any sized room, in a variety of configurations. The superior technology built into our complete range makes Braemar the ideal choice in room heating – offering the ultimate in comfort combined with stylish design.
Better for the environment
The build-up of greenhouse gas emissions is a major concern for us all – which
is why natural gas is a responsible choice for your home heating needs. By installing a Braemar wall furnace heater, you’ll do more than just save on running costs… you’ll contribute towards a healthier planet.
Unlike unflued gas heaters, which increase the level of pollutants in the home, Braemar wall furnaces are flued, so exhaust gases are expelled outside. With unflued heating, doors or windows must be kept open to expel polluted air, but with Braemar’s flued heaters you can keep doors and windows closed and eliminate cold draughts.
With no unhealthy exhaust gases circulating in the air and no hot surfaces inside the home; Braemar wall furnaces also include overheat safety switches to make the perfect choice for your heating needs.
How does a Space Heater work?
Gas space heaters work by passing cold air over a heat exchanger, which is warmed by gas combustion. The warmed air is then pushed through a vent into the room. A thermostat is installed inside the heater which senses the air temperature inside the room and sends a signal to the heater to turn on or off, or up or down.
Power flued space heating is one of the most economical forms of heating and Braemar Eco-Superstar space heaters have the highest overall star ratings of any comparable range.
Gas space heaters are independently tested to measure their energy efficiency – this is used to determine star ratings. The higher the star rating, the more energy efficient the heater is. The more energy efficient, the more you save on running costs. This is why Braemar Eco-Superstar space heaters have in-built technology to ensure they maximise their energy efficiency to an incredible 4.8 stars.

Other Heating Options
Braemar Ducted Gas Heating
Ducted gas heating is the easiest, most comfortable way to heat your entire home, and is the ultimate in comfort, safety, reliability and energy efficiency.
A ducted gas heater is a whole of home solution that allows you to heat the whole house using just one system. It works by taking air from within the house, heating it then distributing through a series of duct work and outlets in the roof.
Braemar has a 7 star equivalent2 ducted heater, which is the highest efficiency star rating of any gas heater on the market. The more stars, the more savings.

Frequently Asked Questions
A gas space heater or wall furnace is a slim, wall-mounted heater that projects heat directly into the room in which they are installed. They work by drawing in cool air through the top of the furnace, heating the air in a chamber, and then blowing the heated air out into the room from the bottom of the unit.
The higher the number of stars, the more efficient the appliance, meaning greater annual savings on your running costs.
Gas heaters are extremely safe, so long as they are maintained and serviced regularly. A flued gas heater is considered to be safer than an unflued gas heater.
Renewable gas refers to gaseous fuels produced from renewable sources or sustainable processes. Common forms of renewable gas include renewable hydrogen and biomethane, which can be used in the same way as natural gas is today. Both renewable hydrogen and biomethane have the advantage of being produced from sustainable and carbon-neutral sources. By blending and ultimately replacing natural gas with renewable gas options, existing infrastructure can continue to be used and people can continue to use gas. Yes, gas heaters do need to be serviced at least once every two years to ensure optimum operation and safety. This work should only be carried out by a licensed and qualified gas fitter. However, some heaters may need more frequent servicing due to more frequent use, or the environment they operate in. Please contact your local service agent for their recommendation.
Heaters do not last forever. Some older heaters cannot be repaired for safety reasons and sometimes spare parts are not available. If your heater is very old (around 15 to 20 years), it may be worthwhile having a chat with your service agent, to get their recommendation. Replacing an older heater will give you access to the latest technology, which is also more energy efficient (up to 7 star equivalent1 energy efficiency rating), saving you significant money on the running costs.

If you use a ducted gas heater or gas space heater or wall furnace to heat your home, it won’t work without electricity. Although they use gas as a primary source of fuel, the internal components, such as the fan, require electricity to function.
